Boil Water Update

April 23, 2026

Dear Residents,

We would like to provide an update regarding the current Boil Water Notice.

At this time, our crews are continuing to flush the water system in order to restore adequate chlorine levels throughout the distribution system. The notice will remain in effect until sufficient disinfectant levels are achieved system-wide.

What this means for you:

  • The water is safe for bathing, washing, and general household use.
  • In accordance with TCEQ requirements, water used for consumption or ingestion must be boiled until the Boil Water Notice is rescinded. This includes drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and making ice.

How you can help:

  • Normal water usage, such as running faucets and routine household activities, helps move chlorinated water through the system and assists in restoring proper disinfectant levels more quickly.

We are actively monitoring chlorine levels and will lift the Boil Water Notice as soon as all regulatory requirements are met and the system is confirmed safe for consumption. An alert will be sent to notify residents immediately once the notice is lifted.

For your awareness, the Boil Water Notice was issued on April 16 at approximately 7:00 PM. On April 20, bacteriological samples were collected from multiple locations within the distribution system (702 Sanctuary Lane, 2840 Harrison, and 705 Monroe). All samples returned absent of bacteria, indicating no bacteriological contamination.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

If you have any questions, please contact our office at 361-920-1396.

Sincerely,

Port O’Connor Improvement District

Boil Water Update

The Boil Water Notice remains in effect for the time being.   Had to shift resources to get the RO System going.  District personnel will begin flushing again at 4am tomorrow morning.

The RO System went online at 3:24 pm and both trains are producing water.  The RO water should help to distribute the disinfectant throughout the distribution system.  Thank you for your patience.

Attention POC Residents:
POCID had to discontinue flushing due to the drawdown of the Ground Storage Tank and Elevated Storage Tank. We had good disinfectant to most of residual sample points but not all of them. We will continue in the morning and try to pull the samples necessary to lift the Boil Water Notice.
