Within the next one to two weeks, all District Customers will be receiving a letter titled:
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR WATER SERVICE LINE
The purpose of this letter is to inform the Public of the District audit being conducted under the new Lead and Copper Rule (the “Rule”) to identify any lead service lines/and or lead solder on any District or Customer Service Lines. The District is required to perform this audit under the Rule.
NOTE: This is not a violation notice nor does it indicate any problems with Lead in our system.
The initial audit on the District lines was commenced in 2025 by BGE Engineering and the District. That process is ongoing. Meanwhile, we need to begin collecting the data on the customer lines.
To reiterate, this is not a violation notice; the letter you receive is only to request customer assistance in identifying what material is on their side of the meter so we can complete the audit as required by TCEQ.
