Port O'Connor Improvement District Receives Statewide Recognition for Recognition for Water Infrastructure Project
February 06, 2026
Port O’Connor Improvement District (POCID) has received two prestigious statewide awards recognizing the successful completion of its newly constructed brackish wellfield and reverse osmosis system.
In January, the project earned a 2025 Project Award from the Association of Water Board Directors (AWBD). The award was presented at the AWBD Mid-Winter Conference held January 24 in Houston. The project was recognized in Division V – Water and Wastewater Facilities. Matt Froehlich of BGE, Inc., the project’s design consultant, attended the ceremony on behalf of the project team. AWBD’s biennial Project Awards Program highlights complex and innovative projects that improve services and quality of life for district customers.
In addition, the project was honored as Project of the Year by the Texas Chapter of the American Public Works Association (TX-APWA) during its Public Workshop on February 3 in Fort Worth. The project received recognition in the Environmental (Water/Wastewater) Division and Small Cities/Rural Communities category. POCID Director Victor Mozisek attended the ceremony and accepted the award.
The TX-APWA award recognizes excellence in the management and delivery of public works projects and highlights the collaboration between the managing agency, engineer, and contractor. BGE, Inc., the design engineer, and TTE, LLC, the project contractor, were also recognized for their contributions to the project’s success.
These awards reflect Port O’Connor Improvement District’s continued commitment to providing reliable, high-quality water infrastructure for the community.
